Football Season Review

№19: Bristol City

A bizarre campaign for Bristol City, who really struggled with a massive injury list in double figures of players in the treatment room for much of the campaign. Dean Holden was initially appointed full-time manager and they enjoyed a decent enough first half to the season, fighting for the play-offs. However the second half of the season was a total disaster. Holden was sacked and despite an initially positive start under new boss Nigel Pearson, they ended without a win in 10 games. Pearson knows it is a summer of complete rebuild. Famara Diedhiou, the club's record signing, is one player on his way. There is massive pressure on Pearson to deliver but the club appear to have put their faith in him. Pearson seems to have invested in youngsters too judging by his team selections at the back end of the campaign. Home form let the Robins down overall. At one stage they lost seven on the bounce and form at that venue is one thing they know they will need to improve upon next time around. There were no real standout players but Dan Bentley impressed in goal while Zak Vyner showed his class when called upon in both defence and midfield.
