Football Season Review

№9: QPR

QPR will be delighted overall with their progress this season. In the end it was an excellent second half to the campaign, buoyed by the loan signings of Stefan Johansen and Charlie Austin, that helped them finish in 9th. They were in the top six of the form table for the second half of the campaign. The first half of the season was poor with doubts over Mark Warburton's suitability to stay as manager. Warburton weathered that storm though and has given QPR some optimism at last after several campaigns in mid-table. QPR are not wealthy at the moment but will be keen to keep hold of Johansen and Austin. Ilias Chair continued to impress in a playmaker role while Rob Dickie was player of the season with a fine first season in defence after making his move from Oxford. QPR probably did not have great strength in depth but improved in that regard after the January transfer window. They possibly need to improve their squad strength further in the summer but they may well feel that they can push for a top six spot next term.
