Football Season Review

№2: Burnley

It was a glorious season for Burnley as they returned to the Premier League in completely unexpected circumstances. The Clarets were thought to be set for a season of struggle when they sold talisman striker Charlie Austin to QPR at the start of the campaign. But boss Sean Dyche found Danny Ings and Sam Vokes as a lethal partnership to make up for the sale. The pair netted 47 goals between them, including 26 for Ings, as Burnley went up as Championship runners-up. They did not lose at home until March and Dyche's policy of using a very small squad, rarely changing his starting eleven, paid off in style. Dyche can take great credit for then achievement having had few resources and spent little money, only bringing in Ashley Barnes midway through the season, for money. He will have to spend over the summer but that should be no problem given the extra finances that will be available having returned to the big league.

Player of the Season: Danny Ings
