Football Season Review

№17: Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield massively overachieved in the first part of the campaign and briefly looked like they would be on for a possible run to the play-offs. Mark Robins then signed Nahki Wells and Joe Lolley in the January transfer window and it looked as if the Terriers would really push on that. That they did not, and finished a lowly 17th, will come as a big disappointment as the club appeared to be one really on the rise. The injury to 12-goal leading scorer James Vaughan, who missed most of the second half of the campaign, can be attributed as one of the major reasons for their second half of the season failure. They were also one of the first sides with lack of much to play for sitting comfortably mid-table with several games to go. That in part explains their record of just six league wins in 2014. Mark Robins will want his side to play with a little more ambition next season but they are unlikely to be that busy in the transfer market.
