Football Season Review

№14: Leeds United

Leeds United once again flattered to deceive and had a truly bizarre season. In the first half under Simon Grayson they looked well pushed for a play-off spot despite the occasional freak result. But after a 4-1 home defeat by Birmingham City in January, Grayson was sacked and in came Neil Warnock. Initially it looked like the appointment was a masterstroke with Leeds producing much more committed displays although they did not always get the results they deserved. A ridiculous number of red cards throughout the season hardly helped Leeds’ cause. Warnock will completely rebuild the squad over the summer as he looks to take the club back up to the Premier League. Warnock is an expert at promotion and should get the best out of his players. An overall 14th last season was extremely disappointing with expectations amongst supporters extremely high. The club’s home form was particularly baffling with just nine wins, three draws and a massive 11 defeats. Ross McCormack scored plenty of goals this season but now wants to leave the club. Robert Snodgrass remains the club’s standout player.
