Football Season Review

Champions: Luton Town

Lutton did not strengthen much going into what was their season of return to the third tier after a decade of absence, but managed to keep hold of all of their key players. The Hatters ended up not needing any reinforcements, as they managed to complete the impressive feat of securing back-to-back promotions. They started the season with some up-and-down form, with manager Nathan Jones openly admitting that his men initially struggled to adapt to life in League One. However, they adjusted over time and went undefeated between mid October and early April, with this run of form making it impossible for the chasing pack to catch them. They did slow down in the last few rounds, but managed to get over the line and end the season as champions. What makes their feat even more impressive is that they lost Jones midway through the season, as he went on to take over at Stoke. Caretaker Mick Harford did an impressive job with the side, but will not stay in charge, as Graeme Jones took over at the end of the season and will hope to guide the Hatters to Championship survival next time around.
