An impressive end of the season from Arminia Bielefeld secures them a top half finish and consolidate their status in the second tier. Jeff Saibene started strongly, but a downfall in form saw him sacked and Uwe Neuhaus came in and worked wonders.
Saibene’s side made a positive start as they only lost one of their first seven games. However, after winning at Darmstadt, they went on a nine game run without a win which saw the end of Saibene’s rein.
Neuhaus came in and changed the clubs fortunes. Powered on by the goals of Fabian Klos and Andreas Voglsammer, the side jumped away from relegation and finished the inform side in the league.
Under Neuhaus, they played with a higher attacking mentality and defensively were well organised. They enjoyed impressive victories against Hamburg, Regensburg and Sandhausen.
Over the course of the season, Bielefeld were inconsistent at home and lost to the two relegated sides. It is something that Neuhaus needs to address for next season.
For next season, Neuhaus need to maintain their momentum and keep hold on Klos and Voglsammer. With two proven goal scorers in the team, they need to bring in numbers to give their squad more depth and they have the potential to battle for promotion.
