Football Season Review

№4: Fulham

Fulham are back in the Premier League at the first time of asking, having quietly gone about their business before triumphing 2-1 over West London rivals Brentford in the play-off final. Boss Scott Parker did not overly impress initially in his first season at the club, but defined himself as a promising manager with a tactical masterclass to outfox Brentford in the final. Fulham had a good squad and were able to keep most of their key men following relegation last term. That included Aleksandar Mitrovic who managed 26 goals despite having injuries and suspensions. Mitrovic even missed much of the play-off final. Fulham appeared overly reliant on him, but actually did well in games where he did not play to prove they were not one dimensional. They found new ways to play without him. Michael Hector proved to be a vital signing at the other end of the pitch as Fulham developed more of a defensive side to them not previously seen of late. You sense they will need several more signings if they are to stay in the Premier League though, as apart from Mitrovic they probably lack genuine class especially in attack.

Player of the Season: Aleksandar Mitrovic
