From Conference Finalists in 2022 Austin turned into a team that failed to even make the top 10 in their Conference in consecutive years (2023 and 2024). Finished just outside the top 9 in the Western Conference last season. The big struggles were in attack. Had the worst scoring record in the West in 2024 – just 39 goals in 34 games. The main reason for that were Sebastián Driussi’s struggles. After his 25-goal season explosion in 2022 Driussi was signed on a monster contract. This didn’t pay off. He scored only 11 goals in 23 and just 7 last year. Luckily for Austin they found a buyer for Driussi this off-season. He is no longer on the books. This freed space for new signings too. The HC in charge for all of Austin’s only 4 MLS seasons so far Wollf was sacked. Now the ex-HC of Dallas Nico Estevez is in charge. He spent his allocated budget well. All of the 5 new signings have the potential to become regulars. As expected revamped the attack. Vazquez comes from the Mexican MLX and he should easily top 10 MLS goals. Big money were paid for winger Uzuni. He’s expected to become a key player. Much more depth and creativity in midfield is available too. All 3 new CMs are expected to have a positive impact. Kept the defensive line intact. This was a smart move considering Austin had the 4th best defensive record in the West last year.

Target

The goal is to get back into the post-season.
