A below-par 2024 campaign saw FC Dallas miss out on the playoffs, as they finished 11th in the West – six points behind play-in spots. Dallas did boast the fifth-best home record in the conference, but they won a league-low one game on the road throughout the season. Their poor performances led to brave decisions by the franchise, who parted ways with as many as six starters including key players Jesús Ferreira, Paul Arriola, Alan Velasco and Nkosi Tafari. The mass exodus was followed by the arrivals of several players with MLS experience such as Anderson Julio, Shaq Moore, Lalas Abubakar and Léo Chú. But the icing on the cake was the acquisition of a certain Luciano Acosta. The former MLS MVP is expected to carry FC Dallas on his shoulders, forming one of the most exciting attacking duos in the league along with Dallas’s scoring machine Petar Musa. It should be noted that the club appointed Eric Quill as their new head coach – a man hailed for his ability to maximize player potential. Despite the departure of important forwards, their main strength will definitely lie on an attack featuring Acosta and Musa as well as new signings Julio and Chú. Injuries paid their toll on the team throughout the 2024 campaign. Should Dallas stay healthy, they could manage to overcome their main weakness and turn the situation around.
