Football Season Guide

RSL had a solid last season. Despite finishing only 3rd in the West they had the fewest defeats W16 D11 L7 in their conference. Also, had the 2nd best scoring record in the West with 65 goals. Unfortunately the finish to 2024 was disappointing. For 3rd year in a row RSL lost in their first playoff match. Despite making the post-season in 5 of the last 6 years RSL haven’t won a playoff game since 2021. The squad was large and hard to manage in 2024. It was no surprise that many players were let go. Losing star striker Arango (17 goals in 32 appearances last season) was a painful move though. He fell out with coach Mastroeni and the GM opted to back the manager. English playmaker Matt Crooks also left. He never looked settled in his only season in America. Scored only 3 goals in 31 appearances. Often proved to be a liability when needed to defend leads. His departure shouldn’t impact the displays much. Elias Manoel arrived from the MLS Finalists New York RB and he should take Arango’s responsibilities. Talented winger Tyler Wolff is also seen as a great new signing, so is experienced goalie Rafael Cabral. RSL have much better constructed roster, at least on paper, and this should help the team’s displays and consistency in 2025.
