Philadelphia’s run of 6 consecutive post-season appearances ended in 2024. Mediocre last campaign W9 D10 L15 left Philly only 12th in their conference. The scoring record was still good (62 goals) but defensively struggled all season. After 9 years in charge coach Curtin was released at the end of last season. Bradley Carnell, head coach of St Louise CITY for the last 3 years, is now the HC. He hasn’t changed the squad much. If anything Philly’s roster looks weaker right now. Saw 3 important players leave (Elliott, Flach and McGlynn). Not many new signings made so far, only 2. Neither of them certain to even land a regular starting role. Carnell got famous at St Louise for developing young players. He’s expected to do so at Philly now. This bodes well for the Sullivan brothers. Both Quinn and Cavan should be used often. Sold star striker Carranza last September. Didn’t replace him then and yet to make a move for an attacker this off-season. It seems Uhre and Baribo will be trusted up front. Neither is a prolific goalscorer. This makes the role of the star attacking midfielder Dániel Gazdag even more important. He had 24, 15 and 17 goals in the last 3 seasons. Another year of 15+ goals for Gazdag is to be expected. Philly still need to add depth. Currently they have only 2 typical CBs on their roster - Ian Glavinovich and Jakob Glesnes. The options in midfield are also very limited. Moves to sing players from the MLS Pool of free agents can be expected in the next few weeks.

Target

Return to the post-season. To do it will need to increase the roster depth.
