Brondby were just a game away from their second title in the last 20 years. They lost the chance to repeat what they did in 2019-20 on the final day of the previous campaign. Despite having the joint-fewest defeats last term, only 6 in 32 rounds, Brondby made back-to-back mistakes in the final 2 games and this saw them finish a single point behind Midtjylland. Still, there was plenty of positives from the first season under coach Jesper Sørensen. Now in his second season the gaffer is expected to make some small adjustments as he tries to win the title. Keeping the top goalscorer from last season Nicolai Vallys (13 goals) healthy will be essential. Vallys missed multiple games in the play-offs and many could argue that this was the main reason why Brondby threw away a 7-point lead late in the season. The fact that there are no departures or new arrivals, this at the moment of writing, shows that the manager is happy to run it all again with the same set of players. The young Japanese centre forward Yuito Suzuki had a breakthrough season last term. He’s expected to be even better this year and all the predictions are that he will score 10+ goals in the league. Keeping the squad essentially the same means that most likely the regular starters will be the same too. Since his arrival in the winter of 2024 Jordi Vanlerberghe became a key figure in the back trio. Now in his first full season at Brondby he’s expected to be even more dominant. In midfield veterans Josip Radosevic and Daniel Wass will continue to do all the dirty work. Their roles are crucial for both the defensive stability and the attacking efficiency. Their presence on the pitch frees Vallys to venture forward and be an extremely dangerous second point of attack. Brondby’s main weakness last season were the local derbies. Focusing extra effort on those matches against their nearest rivals can be expected during the 2024-25 season.

Target

Will be desperate to win the title this season. No matter what, another top 3 finish looks very likely.
