After making two managerial changes in early 2024 Lyngby just about avoided relegation last term. They finished right above the bottom 2, with their survival not secured until the final round. The results early on were not bad. Lyngby finished the regular season in eighth place. Then in January the successful coach Freyr Alexandersson moved abroad. His replacement Magne Hoseth lasted only 2 months in the job before being sacked in early March. Eventually, David Nielsen took over and he did just about enough to guide the team to safety. The main reason Lyngby survived last term were the 13 league goals scored by Andri Gudjohnsen and the 45 big chances created by Tochi Chukwuani. As it was expected both players were sold this summer and this means the Vikings lost their two big stars. Coach Nielsen is yet to sign any replacements in attack. In fact, the only new signing so far is the defensive midfielder Rasmussen, who doesn’t help much the forward actions. As things stand the main hope up front right now falls on the shoulders of the Icelander Saevar Atli Magnússon. He scored 5 league goals last season but had a dismal 16.4% shots on target stat. Lyngby need to add depth and talent in attack if they are to survive. In his first summer at the helm Nielsen struggles to convince players to join his team it seems. Already, 3 potential new strikers have signed with other clubs. Potentially failing to replace the team’s 2 best forward assets with anyone before the winter transfer window might prove costly. Nielsen also has a tough task to improve the away results. Lyngby had the second-worst away record in the league last term – 3 wins, 2 draws and 11 defeats. For that to happen the team’s most important centre-back Pascal Gregor will need to stay healthy. He had issues with injuries and illness often last term.

Target

The main goal is to avoid relegation. It will be a hard season for sure.
