Football Season Review

№15: Blackpool

After a season of mass disruption, Blackpool will be delighted they can write it off with their safety in the Championship still intact. Ian Holloway quit the club after a couple of months to join Crystal Palace and then Michael Appleton left to join Blackburn Rovers. A third manager Paul Ince took his time to get used to life at Bloomfield Road before managing to steer the side to safety with a handful of games to spare. All managers have kept faith in a 4-3-3 system with the star of the show Thomas Ince, the new manager's son. Key to future success may well be hanging on to the youngster. Blackpool only won eight games at home and were not helped by a Bloomfield Road pitch that was always cut up and not conducive to entertaining football. Ince will be hoping for funds in the summer as the club clearly need some more talent to freshen things up. After going close to a return to the Premier League last season, this one was especially disappointing at the mood at Bloomfield Road cannot be regarded as being very high.
