Football Season Review

№23: Wolverhampton Wanderers

It was a truly dreadful campaign for Wolves as they were relegated for a second consecutive season. They opted to completely change the style and the tactical approach bringing in Stale Solbakken, the Norwegian, as new boss. That tactic was abandoned when Wolves were humiliated at non-league Luton in the FA Cup. Although they were not in relegation trouble at time, Solbakken was axed and the straight talking Dean Saunders came in. Saunders was never a success and it took him two months to get his first win. They rallied after that improving on a poor home record, although they only won seven times in total at Molineux. However with players injured they could not get over the line and slumped to a catastrophic loss at home to Burnley on the penultimate. Saunders lost his job as Wolves look to find a way back at the first time of asking with another new management structure. Many of their players will still be on Premier League wages. Bakary Sako was outstanding this term and one of the few players who could hold his head high.
