The most impressive finish off all to this season was Monchengladbach´s. The odds against them surviving the drop to the lower division looked overwhelming, but they could yet make it. Borussia spent most of the season tailed off at the bottom of the league, but a late revival saw them move up to 16th place and a relegation playoff with Bochum. If history is anything to go on, Gladbach will still be relegated as they haven’t beaten Bochum in their last 15 encounters. However, their newly-found spirit and motivation could yet see them through. The team´s top scorer was Marko Reus with ten goals, but there were others who played a part in their outstanding late revival too. Striker Mike Hanke is one of the best headers of a ball in the Bundesliga while Marc-André ter Stegen has proved what a great goalie he is. He had to, as Gladbach have had one of the leakiest defenses in the Bundesliga conceding a whopping 65 goals in total.
