A deeply disappointing season for Celtic. Not only did they end the campaign 25 points off top spot, they failed to win a single Old Firm derby and endured some humiliating league and cup results.
Despite a solid start, warning signs of a difficult campaign were present from early on. Celtic dropped points against the likes of Kilmarnock and Aberdeen, as well as some disappointing European displays underlined early problems.
Manager Lennon seemed to lack a consistent vision for his team. With an over-reliance on the ageing Brown in midfield, and sub-par loan recruitment, Celtic often failed to make an impact in midfield.
Edouard continued to perform well up front, though sometimes lacked adequate support.
Turnbull showed promising signs after arriving from Motherwell in August. But Lennon was often reluctant to make use of him.
The goalkeeping position was a persistent problem throughout the season. Greek keeper Barkas failed to cement a place in the starting line-up.
Cup displays were disappointing too, with an early League Cup exit to Ross County and poor Europa League group stages particular low points.
Lennon’s departure was overdue and caretaker manager Kennedy was unable to make major changes.
A run of 9 games with only 2 wins to see out the season underlined a deeply disappointing campaign on all fronts and spelled the end of a number of careers at the club.
