Two relatively uninspiring spells sandwiched a record-breaking run in a season of mixed form.
Manager Holt departed in November after only 3 wins from the first 15 matches of the season, with close-season signings lacking quality.
Despite having no experience in football management, new manager Martindale led the club to a record 6 game winning run and 11 game unbeaten streak.
But there was only 1 win from the last 12 league games of the season. The squad seemed to struggle once the bubble burst and utterly collapsed after the end of their impressive run.
A strong League Cup campaign saw Livingston reach the final after wins over Ross County and St Mirren. But with form flagging, they offered little in the final against a well-organised St Johnstone.
Despite the addition of Emmanuel-Thomas, the absence of Robinson left the forward line somewhat lacking. Squad forwards Poplatnik, Lokotsch and Kouider-Aissa failed to make a consistent impact.
Midfield was an area of strength. Pittman and Bartley were some of the most consistent performers. Full backs were also effective, with Serrano and Devlin both excelling at times.
Martindale’s first full-season in charge will likely present his biggest challenge yet. With Emmanuel-Thomas moving on, putting together an effective forward line will be key to success or failure.
