Football Season Review

№8: Millwall

Millwall just missed out on a play-off spot that appeared within their grasp after a memorable season back in the Championship. The Lions had not exactly invested much in terms of new players in the summer and were expected to struggle. But they defied expectations. They quickly established themselves as a decent Championship side and once they had gained that confidence went on an incredible 17-game unbeaten run in the latter part of the campaign. Only a poor last three games of the season saw them miss out on a play-off spot but they can be well pleased with a terrific season. Neil Harris has proved to be an excellent manager and his secret was playing a settled side throughout. He ensured an excellent team spirit amongst the group and that was undoubtedly the major reason for a successful season. Steve Morison and Lee Gregory performed up-front despite the former lacking goals while midfielder George Saville, Jed Wallace and Aiden O'Brien also impressed. Player of the season was Shaun Hutchinson alongside them, while the defence was solid throughout. Millwall will hope to bring in new players over the summer but drastic changes are unlikely. Harris will continue and with consistency there is every chance of a repeat or better next term now they have fully found their feet in England's second tier again.

Player of the Season: Shaun Hutchinson
