Only a year after their relegation Degerfors returned to the top flight. They did that as champions of the Second Tier Superettan. Had only 5 defeats last season W15 D10. Had by far the best defence in the division, only 28 goals conceded in 30 games. William Lundin impressed in his 1st year in charge. However, despite the success he had to rebuild his entire front line this winter. Dijan Vukojevic was the joint top goalscorer of Superettan last season with his 14 goals. His main partner Gustav Lindgren scored 13. Both left in the winter leaving a gaping hole in attack. Omar Faraj was loaned in and he will be a key player up front. However, he is the only typical centre forward. Also, the only forward older than 18. Lack serious depth in attack but at least the backbone of the defensive line is still all there. Used 3-man defence last season. Now might go for the more conservative 5-4-1 shape. At least, this was a formation used often during the February-March Swedish Cup run. Kevin Holmén was the 3rd big departure this winter. He had 9 assists and 6 goals last year. Couldn’t keep him permanently though. Marcus Rafferty was signed to replace him. The youngster, age 20, is set to have his 1st season as a regular starter at senior level. He’s a promising talent and could become a bargain signing if he can replicate Holmén’s returns from last year.
