Mjallby started the 2024 campaign well, had 9 wins in the opening 15 rounds. However, only 4 more wins were achieved in the second half of the season so the challenge for European qualification faded early on. Still making the top 5 and staying only 4 points outside the medals was seen as a successful season. In both his years in charge coach Torstensson led Mjallby to the fourth-best defensive record in Allsvenskan, conceded only 35 goals last season. This makes it an important thing to notice that two of the main players in defence from last year Rasmus Wikstrom and Arvid Brorsson were sold in the winter. Quickly found replacements for them. Both Axel Norén and Tony Miettinen are tipped to become regular starters. Hopes are their signings will prove the right choice. None of the other incoming or outgoing transfers was a major move. This means Mjallby will rely pretty much on the same core of players in midfield and attack as they did last year. At age 19 Silas Nwankwo was Mjallby’s top goalscorer back in 2022. He had consecutive years plagued by injuries since. If Nwankwo could stay healthy this term he could be the breakthrough player of the season. In any case, the regular starter up front, at least in the early months, should remain experienced Jacob Bergström.

Target

Target another comfortable mid-table finish. Will be happy if they make the top 8.
