Football Season Guide

It was a tough campaign in 2024. The all-or-nothing approach didn’t help much. Halmstads had the fewest draws in all of the Allsvenskan in 2024, just 3. Still, the 10 wins they achieved saw them avoid a bottom 3 finish by mere 2 points. Winning 3 of their last 4 games was decisive and survival was literally secured only on the last day of the campaign. The one player that stood out was the full-back Vinicius. He accumulated 8 assists last season and proved to be the best chance-creator of the team. Striker Naeem Mohammed also played well early on, had 5 goals and 3 assists in the opening 12 rounds. Unfortunately he sustained a season-ending injury in early July and from that point on the goals were very hard to come by. With Mohammed over his bad injury and Vinicius committing his future to the club the hopes for much better 2025 are justified. Lost 4 regulars this winter but replacements for all of them were signed already. Centre-backs Baffoe, injured for large parts of the last 2 years, and Johansson, turned 42 before retiring, won’t be missed that much. It’s a different story in midfield where Söderberg played very well after his summer arrival and Svedberg was the main anchor-man for years. Yet to be seen if the newcomers Moro and Damnjanovic can do well in the roles. Up front much more will be expected from the September signing Blair Turgott. He’s a natural target-man and could be useful at set pieces. Of course, keeping Mohammed fit and involved is the main priority in attack.
