Grêmio had a disappointing year in 2024. Despite winning the Campeonato Gaúcho, they struggled defensively, fought against relegation in the league and failed to make long runs in the cup competitions. For this year, Grêmio have signed defenders João Lucas, Luan Cândido, Lucas Esteves and Wagner Leonardo. The 'Tricolor' have also strengthened the midfield with Camilo Reijers and Gustavo Cuéllar, and the wings with Francis Amuzu and Cristian Olivera. On the other hand, Grêmio lost two starters, Marchesin and Reinaldo. Both didn't have a good season last year. Other departures, Caíque, Rodrigo Caio, Pepê, and Nathan Fernandes hadn't had many minutes at the end of last season. Gustavo Quinteros was appointed to replace club legend Renato Gaúcho at the start of the year. So far, Grêmio have not performed well against top-flight opposition. They lost the Campeonato Gaúcho final to their greatest rivals Internacional after seven consecutive years winning the title. They were aggressive in the market and managed to strengthen the squad. However, at least half of the starting line-up has changed from last year. The players are still adapting to the new manager's style and to playing with each other.

Target

Finish in the top half of the table. Maybe fight for a Libertadores qualification (top-6).
