Finished 6th, last season, which allowed São Paulo to grab a place in Libertadores, this next season. São Paulo wasn't always steady in their 2024 career, but the arrival of Argentinean Luis Zubeldía was definitely a decisive turning point moment on the season. Achieved quarter-finals in both Brazilian Cup and Libertadores. Grabbed silverware by winning Supercup against rivals Palmeiras. In 2025, São Paulo had a positive run in State Championship but lost by narrow margin against favourites Palmeiras. Manager Zubeldía has established as a charismatic leader already, and the fans obviously like him and his direct football approach. However, the time for trial and error has finished and he will need to deliver something to São Paulo in 2025. São Paulo had a clinical approach to transfer market. They got rid of many superfluous names and kept just the bare minimal to have a competitive squad. São Paulo will rely on their excellent youth system to build their squad in many games. Only 4 new names for the new season, three of them are full-backs. Cedric will replace the veteran Rafinha, while Wendell and Enzo Diaz arrived to tackle the problematic left-back position. All attention is however lying on big name Oscar. The attacking 33-years old midfielder has arrived to do what James Rodriguez failed to: to become an instant idol for the fans and form a star-partnership with Lucas Moura. Jonathan Calleri had a slightly off-year, in 2024, mostly due to constant physical issues. If he gets back to his finest form, it could be very hard for opponents to deal with a Moura-Oscar-Calleri frontline, even more if injury-prone Ferreira also gets an injury-free run and adds up more firepower to a scary attack.

Target

It's legitimate to aim for a top-4 position, provided key players stay out of injuries, since the squad lacks depth. Aiming for the title, while not absurd, might be a bit far-fetched.
