Football Season Review

№17: Bristol City

Bristol City ultimately survived in the Championship despite being in apparent danger for much of the campaign. The Robins' poor run of form around the turn of the year ensured they appeared likely to go down. But Lee Johnson showed he had plenty of grit about him to turn things around just as it looked like his job was on the line. There is no doubt that one man had a big impact on City's season though. That was on-loan Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham who netted 26 times and replacing him over the summer will be very difficult indeed. City heads quickly dropped at times over the season, especially when Abraham was injured, and they went on some bad runs. Undoubtedly Johnson needs to spend and spend well in the transfer market over the summer to ensure they are not involved in a relegation battle next year. He can reflect though on a season where they met their expectations as they look to find a way to take things on to the next step. Johnson is growing all the time as a manager and has the apparent backing of the club to push them on next season.

Player of the Season: Tammy Abraham
