Football Season Review

№12: Milton Keynes Dons

MK Dons are coming from what can only be described as a season of transition, as the club opted to stick with long-serving manager Karl Robinson despite relegation from the Championship, but it soon became obvious that a change would have to be made, as the Dons became utterly unable to win games at home, with Robinson leaving the club after more than six years in charge as a consequence and with the Dons just out of the relegation places. The Dons as a club are known for liking to dip into the unknown in their search for new personnel and there was hardly any surprise when they took their search for a new manager outside England, with Hearts manager Robbie Neilson becoming Robinson's successor. The early results under Neilson made it obvious that the Dons badly needed a change, as the home results picked up almost immediately, and the Dons went on to finish comfortably in mid table. Neilson started to make his plans for the future clear with around ten games of the season left, as he announced that several long-serving players will leave during the summer. We now know that David Martin, Darren Potter, Dean Bowditch, Daniel Powell and Nicky Maynard are only some of the names that will leave as it is obvious that the Dons will enter the new season with only a few players of Robinson's time in charge remaining.
