Cambuur were woeful last season and flamed out in pretty embarrassing fashion, failing to even make the play-offs while being tipped as a potential promotion candidate beforehand. Now there is hope of something more positive from Henk de Jong and his squad as Cambuur will play at a new ground from this year on and the fans will be eager to get some success and reasons to cheer. As of now, however, the Leeuwarden outfit have bee one of the quieter ones in the transfer market and have added just a couple of decent young players in Benjamin Pauwels and Bryan Nieling, along with keeper Thijs Jansen. The club has overseen the departures of some good players like goalie Yannick van Osch, defender Sekou Sylla and winger Michael Breij, while main striker Milan Smit's departure is seemingly imminent too, and at the moment this team looks some way off the level expected from a promotion candidate. De Jong does not seem too worried so far about the quality of his squad and will look to promote youngsters again but there are still quite a lot of gaps to cover, at full-back, central midfield and the wing areas, and overall it seems like more mediocrity on the fringes of the play-off race awaits for the Friesland side.

Target

Try to be in the play-off zone despite the noticeable lack of quality and depth.
